In the last of a series of events celebrating 50 years of New beacon Books on Thursday 8 December, the GPI and NBB present

Wasafiri Special Launch Issue

Sulaiman Adebowale (Amalion Publishing), Ruth Bush (bristol University), Mary Jay (African Books Collective) and Madhu Krishnan (Bristol University) discuss the challenges and trends for print activism in contemporary Africa.

This year's 50th anniversary of New beacon Books has been the inspiration for the latest Special Issue of Wasafiri, the magazine of international writing which seeks to explore continuities and discontinuities in activist print cultures in Africa and the African diaspora. Nick Makoha will be reading from his collection of poetry.
