Annual Christmas Fundraiser: The Padmore Tradition in Pan-Africanism

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the death of George Padmore.

​Join us on 5 December when our annual fundraiser focuses on the man after whom we are named​ ​with The Padmore Tradition in Pan-Africanism.

George Padmore was born in Trinidad in 1903 and died in London in 1959. He was a leading advocate of the growth 20th century Pan-Africanism and emancipation from colonialism.

Padmore's activism ​and its ​influence spanned the Caribbean, the continent of Africa, Britain, Europe, Soviet Union and the USA. His Pan-Africanism remained deeply rooted in Marxism.    

This discussion event shall be led by historian Professor Hakim Adi and the editor/ writer Margaret Busby.
